Welcome to Infant Feeding Specialist. These Terms & Conditions govern your booking, participation in, and use of consultations and related support provided by Infant Feeding Specialist (“we”, “us”, or “our”).
By booking, attending, or participating in a consultation or related support, you agree to these Terms.
These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. Our Services
Infant Feeding Specialist provides clinical assessment and support for infant and early feeding, including breastfeeding, bottle feeding, reflux, oral function, and related concerns.
Consultations may be delivered:
- in-clinic
- via telehealth
- via home visit in limited circumstances, by arrangement
Consultations are delivered by a qualified paediatric speech pathologist and certified lactation consultant, within the scope of professional training and registration.
These services include clinical assessment, interpretation, diagnosis, where appropriate and within scope, and management recommendations. They are not emergency services and do not replace ongoing medical care from your doctor or healthcare provider, where required.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age and the parent or legal guardian of the child for whom the consultation is being booked.
By booking a consultation, you confirm that you have the legal authority to provide information and consent to services on behalf of your child.
3. Booking, Cancellation & Rescheduling
- Consultations are booked via our online booking system.
- Full payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed.
- Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.
- Cancellations within 24 hours or missed appointments are non-refundable.
- In limited circumstances, a one-time reschedule may be offered at our discretion.
4. Clinical Scope & Responsibility
By attending a consultation, you acknowledge that:
- Clinical assessment and recommendations are based on the information available at the time of consultation;
- Care is provided within the practitioner’s professional scope of practice;
- Recommendations may evolve as further information becomes available;
- You remain responsible for seeking medical or specialist care where recommended;
- Outcomes cannot be guaranteed, as feeding is influenced by multiple factors including individual variation, underlying conditions, and consistency of implementation.
5. Telehealth Consultations
Telehealth consultations are conducted using video or phone-based platforms.
You acknowledge that:
- Assessment is based on discussion, observation, and any materials provided (e.g. videos or photos);
- Some aspects of assessment may be limited compared to in-person consultation;
- Technical issues may impact the consultation;
- In-person or medical follow-up may be recommended where required.
6. Home Visit Consultations
Where home visits are offered, you agree to:
- Provide a safe, appropriate environment for the consultation;
- Ensure reasonable access to the premises at the agreed time;
- Inform us in advance of any risks (including pets, hazards, or safety concerns).
We reserve the right to decline or discontinue a home visit if safety concerns arise.
7. Client Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information about your baby’s feeding, health, and history;
- Complete any requested intake forms prior to your consultation where possible;
- Provide videos or additional information where requested to support assessment;
- Follow reasonable recommendations to seek further care where advised.
You acknowledge that incomplete or inaccurate information may impact the accuracy of assessment and recommendations.
8. Media (Videos, Photos & Information Sharing)
As part of assessment and support, you may choose to provide videos, images, or other information.
By doing so, you acknowledge that:
- You are voluntarily providing this information for clinical assessment and guidance;
- Some methods of sharing (e.g. email or messaging platforms) may not be fully secure;
- We are not responsible for how third-party platforms store or process your data.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information and maintain appropriate clinical records in accordance with professional obligations.
9. Communication & Messaging Platforms
Follow-up communication may be provided via email or messaging platforms (such as Instagram, WhatsApp, or similar) where appropriate.
By engaging through these platforms, you acknowledge that:
- They are not secure clinical communication systems;
- Limited personal information (including text, images, and videos) may be exchanged;
- They are not suitable for urgent or emergency concerns;
- Responses may not be immediate;
- We cannot control how third-party platforms store or process your data.
Ongoing or complex concerns may require a follow-up consultation.
10. Platform Flexibility & Consult Delivery
Consultations are typically delivered via secure platforms. However, alternative methods (including phone calls or other video platforms) may be used where required due to access limitations or technical issues.
In such cases:
- Clinical care will still be provided in accordance with professional standards;
- Relevant notes may be recorded separately to meet clinical and legal obligations;
- Recommendations will only be provided where an appropriate level of assessment has been achieved.
11. International Clients
Our practitioners are registered and insured in Australia.
If you access services from outside Australia, you acknowledge that:
- You are responsible for ensuring that receiving these services is lawful in your location;
- You accept responsibility for complying with local healthcare regulations;
- You may be advised to seek in-person assessment from a locally licensed practitioner;
- Our professional indemnity insurance applies within Australia and may not extend to claims made in other jurisdictions.
12. Fees & Payments
- All fees are listed in Australian Dollars (AUD) unless otherwise stated.
- Payment must be made in full at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed.
- We reserve the right to update fees at any time, with changes applying to future bookings only.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Infant Feeding Specialist is not liable for any loss, injury, or damage (direct or indirect) arising from:
- Your use of our services;
- Reliance on information or recommendations provided during consultations;
- Incomplete or inaccurate information provided by you;
- Delay or failure to seek medical or professional care where recommended.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the resupply of services or the cost of resupply.
Nothing in these Terms excludes rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
14. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Infant Feeding Specialist from any loss, claim, or expense arising from:
- Your breach of these Terms;
- Your misuse of services;
- Your failure to follow reasonable recommendations to seek further care;
- Your use of services in a jurisdiction where they may not comply with local regulations.
This does not apply to any loss caused by our negligence or breach of non-excludable rights under Australian law.
15. Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, Australia.
Any disputes arising in connection with these services will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of South Australia.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updated versions will be published on our website with a revised “Last updated” date.
Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
